The newly elected Executive Council of ICOM
The 23rd General Conference of ICOM, which took place in Rio de Janeiro, ended on 17 August with the General Assembly of ICOM, during which the results of the election of the organisation’s new Executive Council were announced. Prof. Dr. Hans-Martin Hinz (Germany) was re-elected for a second term as President of ICOM, as were the Vice-Presidents, George Abungu (Kenya) and Tereza Scheiner (Brazil). Anne-Catherine Hauglustaine-Robert (France) was elected for the position of treasurer.
The 11 ordinary members of the Council are: Ossama A. W. Abdel Meguid (Egypt), Laishun An (China), Inkyung Chang (Republic of Korea), Luisa de Peña Díaz (Dominican Republic), Willem De Vos (Belgium), Alberto Garlandini (Italy), Goranka Horjan (Croatia), Merete Ipsen (Denmark), Peter Keller (Austria), Diana Pardue (US) and Regine Schulz (Germany). Suay Aksoy (Turkey), elected President of the Advisory Committee, is also an ex-officio member of the Executive Council.
